Bald Eagle

Hello, I am a Bald Eagle. I am a big, beautiful bird. My head has soft, white feathers, and so does my tail. I have a big, yellow beak that is curved like a little hook. My eyes are super sharp. I can see tiny things from way, way up in the sky. I love to open my giant wings and soar high in the air. Flying makes me feel strong and free as I ride on the wind.

My home is a giant nest called an aerie. It is very cozy. My family and I build our aerie high up in the tallest tree we can find. We like to live near a big lake or a flowing river. This keeps us safe and close to my favorite food. My favorite food is fish. When I am hungry, I fly over the water and look down with my sharp eyes. When I see a fish swimming, I swoop down very fast. I use my strong feet, called talons, to gently scoop the fish out of the water for my dinner. It is so yummy.

I have a very important job in the sky. When I catch fish to eat, I help keep the rivers and lakes healthy and balanced. I am also a symbol for being strong and free, just like how I feel when I fly. If you ever look up and see a big bird with a white head soaring high above, that might be me. You can give me a little wave as I fly by, watching over our beautiful world.
