Pythagoras and His Puzzling Shapes

Hello there! My name is Pythagoras, and I was born a long, long time ago on a sunny island called Samos. I loved numbers and shapes even when I was a little boy! My mommy and daddy said I was always curious, always asking questions. I had a very happy childhood, playing and learning.

I really, really loved to learn new things. I loved to count everything! One, two, three... and more! I also loved to measure things. How long is this stick? How tall is that tree? I discovered a very special math rule that helped me understand shapes even better.

It’s about shapes with a special corner, like the corner of a square. We call that a right-angled triangle. If you draw a little square on each side of this triangle, my special rule says that the two smaller squares together are just the same size as the biggest square! It helps us build strong houses and tall buildings!

I loved sharing what I learned with my friends. We would sit together and figure out puzzles. Learning together made math even more fun! Math is like a big, exciting adventure, and I hope you have lots of fun with numbers and shapes too!
