Mohandas's Gentle Big Dreams

Hello there! My name is Mohandas, but my friends and family called me Bapu. I was born a long, long time ago in a sunny place called India. When I was a little boy, I was a bit shy, like a little mouse peeking out from its hole! I loved to play pretend games, and sometimes I’d pretend to be a brave knight. But even then, I didn’t like to see anyone get hurt. If my dog, who was a fluffy brown fellow, barked too much, I would try to calm him down with soft pats instead of shouting. I learned that being gentle was important, like giving a soft hug to a friend who scraped their knee.

As I grew bigger, I saw that sometimes people weren’t very nice to each other. It made my heart feel a little heavy. I thought, “There must be a better way!” I learned that you don’t need to shout or push to be strong. You can be super strong by being peaceful and kind. Imagine a big, strong tree – it doesn’t shake its branches angrily at the wind; it just stands tall and steady. That’s how I wanted to be, and how I wanted my country to be. We found ways to help our country by working together, sharing ideas, and being very brave in our hearts, without ever throwing a single punch!

My biggest dream was for everyone to be friends, no matter what they looked like or where they came from. I wanted everyone to have enough to eat, a cozy place to sleep, and to be treated with fairness and love. I imagined a world where everyone smiled and helped each other, like a big, happy family playing together in a sunny garden. And guess what? Even though I’m not around anymore, that dream is still alive! People all over the world remember that being peaceful and kind is the strongest way to make the world a better place for everyone. Isn’t that a wonderful big dream to share?
